Federal Level Reading First Support Sites
http://www.readingfirstsupport.us/ This website publishes a newsletter three times each year.

http://www.ed.gov/programs/readingfirst/index.html The Department of Education Reading First website.

Support for states implementing Reading First is provided by three technical assistance centers, Missouri being in the Central section. Centers are in:

  • Texas http://www.texasreading.org/utcrla/ The Texas website has quite a few teacher resources, including the 3-Tier Reading book. Some are for sale, but quite a few are free.
  • Florida http://www.fcrr.org/ The Florida website does a great job of adding powerpoint presentations from their staff, and you’ve got to see their collection of center activities, it’s huge.
  • Oregon http://reading.uoregon.edu/ One of the most valuable items on the Oregon website are the curriculum maps. They are similar to Missouri’s GLEs, but they break the year down into which skills they suggest teaching at each grade level, at roughly each month.
